The Lucknow Super Giants notched up their first win of the season at home with a nine-run victory over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a rain-curtailed affair at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
In a heartwarming moment after the match, Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen patiently waiting to interact with RCB’s talismanic batter Virat Kohli, who was engaged in a conversation with New Zealand batter and Kane Williamson, LSG’s strategic advisor.
Goenka’s son reportedly wanted Kohli’s autograph, and both Goenka and his son were seen waiting patiently, even instructing a staff member not to go and disturb the two batting icons. The video of the incident has been doing the rounds on social media.

Sanjiv Goenka wanted an autograph from Kohli for his son, but waited patiently while Kohli was busy with Williamson. Even when his bodyguard offered to call Kohli, he said no ❤️
If it were the Ambanis, their bodyguards would’ve probably stepped in to get the photo instantly 🙂 pic.twitter.com/nM2bBBHH40— AurelionCricket (@CricketAurelion) May 8, 2026
Super Giants’ owner Goenka has come under much scrutiny for his management of the team, when he was spotted in a heated discussion with skipper Rishabh Pant in their first match against the Delhi Capitals. Pant assured his backing of Goenka during the toss in their game against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
The win against the defending champions was just the Super Giants’ third of the season. They find themselves at the foot of the table in what has been an underwhelming season for the batters. Mitchell Marsh notched up his first century of the season against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a game shortened to 19 overs per side. Rishabh Pant, who has looked out of touch with the bat all season, scored a brilliant unbeaten 10-ball 32, which took the Super Giants to 209/3 in their 20 overs.
Prince Yadav, who has been LSG’s best bowler all season, picked up figures of 3/33 in four overs against RCB, taking his tally to 16 wickets for the season. He had Kohli castled for a duck, beating him on the inside with a nip-backer.
