Olympus High Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour and Cultural Splendour
Dehradun: Olympus High celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm within the school premises. The celebrations brought together students, faculty members and the school leadership in a vibrant celebration of the nation’s freedom, unity and rich cultural heritage.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Managing Director, Dr. Kunal Shamshere Malla, Director Principal Dr. Anuradha Pundeer Malla, Vice Principal Archana, along with the faculty members of the school.
The celebrations commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony by Dr. Kunal Shamshere Malla along with Dr. Anuradha Pundeer Malla, followed by the National Anthem. The Head Boy and Head Girl delivered inspiring speeches highlighting the significance of Independence Day, the spirit of patriotism and the responsibility of the younger generation towards the nation.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kunal Shamshere Malla inspired students to uphold the values of unity, integrity, discipline and service, while reminding them of their role in contributing towards a stronger and brighter India.
Adding colour and creativity to the celebrations, students enthusiastically participated in a range of activities including rangoli, paper bag making, bracelet making and slogan writing competitions. The events provided students with an opportunity to express their creativity while celebrating the spirit of independence.
A major highlight of the celebrations was the Inter-House Folk Fusion Dance Competition, which showcased India’s extraordinary cultural diversity through a vibrant blend of traditional folk forms and modern regional pop. The competition was judged by Manni Gusain, accomplished choreographer, artist, entrepreneur and Founder of KOD and MAD Dance Studio, and Jai Singh Rajput, choreographer, creative director and Co-Founder of KOD.
Representing different regions of India, the four houses delivered energetic performances. Yajur House represented Gujarat through the folk-pop track Vichhudo by Kinjal Dave, while Rig House showcased Tamil Nadu through Katchi Sera. Saam House brought the vibrant culture of Assam alive with Naso Soto, while Atharva House represented Sikkim with its theme Rhythm of Sikkim through Timi Nacha Na.
Saam House secured the First Position, while Atharva House and Yajur House shared the Second Position.
The cultural celebrations were further enriched by a soulful rendition of “Tera Himalaya” by the school choir, adding to the patriotic spirit of the occasion. Dr. Kunal Shamshere Malla also delighted the gathering with a special rendition of “Aa Chal Ke Tujhe Main Leke Chalun”, which received warm appreciation from the audience.
Congratulating the participants, Dr. Kunal Shamshere Malla and Dr. Anuradha Pundeer Malla appreciated the students for their enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork, while applauding all four houses for their outstanding performances.
