Australian off-spinning all-rounder Chris Green has readied himself to join Lancashire earlier than planned for his third stint with the club.
Green was set to join Lancashire for their T20 Blast campaign for the season, along with a couple of County Championship Division Two fixtures against Kent and Derbyshire in June. He is now set to be available for the County Championship clashes against Middlesex on May 8 and Worcestershire on May 15.
“We’re delighted that Chris has been able to join us earlier than expected. He’s a high-quality performer with an excellent record in county cricket over the last two seasons,” said Lancashire director of cricket performance Mark Chilton.
“Having him available for these additional matches will be a real asset to the group. His all-round performances in the County Championship last summer were outstanding, scoring two centuries and taking 23 wickets in just four matches. This will be Chris’s third season with us. He is incredibly respected in the dressing room and seen as a real leader. We can’t wait to welcome him back,” he added.
Green has been Lancashire’s T20 Player of the Year for the last two years, picking up 35 wickets in 25 matches for the club, with best figures of 4/12. He has also played five First-Class games for the club, scoring two centuries and taking 24 wickets at an average of 25, including 23 wickets in four appearances last season.
Green is currently representing Islamabad United in the 2026 Pakistan Super League and is set to join the squad after the final of the tournament on May 3. Green has picked up seven wickets from eight games in the PSL, at an economy rate of 6.54.
The club has had a strong start to the ongoing season of the County Championship, sitting atop the second division table with 60 points. They have racked up two outright wins but were beaten by Durham, who chased down a mammoth 336 with eight wickets to spare. Veteran fast-bowler and skipper James Anderson leads the wickets charts in Division 2 with a whopping 23 wickets in four games.
