Glamorgan have appointed Andy Gorvin as captain for the 2026 One-Day Cup, with the all-rounder set to replace Kiran Carlson, who will represent London Spirit in The Hundred 2026, which overlaps with the domestic 50-over competition. Gorvin has been an integral part of Glamorgan’s One-Day Cup triumphs in 2021 and 2024, establishing himself as one of the team’s most dependable performers.
Renowned for his maturity, leadership qualities and the respect he commands within the dressing room, Gorvin was considered the natural choice to lead the side. His ability to set high standards, unite the squad and inspire consistent performances played a key role in the decision. Director of Cricket Mark Wallace welcomed the appointment, praising Gorvin’s influence within the group and the example he continues to set both on and off the field.
“With multiple players away at The Hundred the competition allows us to give opportunities to different players within our squad. Andy is one of the most popular and respected members of the squad and I’m delighted that he will be able to show his leadership qualities on the field as captain of Glamorgan for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign,” said Wallace as quoted by Glamorgan Cricket.
Gorvin will begin preparations immediately as Glamorgan gear up for the start of their 2026 One-Day Cup campaign, with the aim of adding another successful chapter to the club’s rich history in the 50-over format. Glamorgan will kick off their campaign against Sussex at the Gnoll in Neath on Wednesday, July 22.
Meanwhile, David Harrison will return as the team’s head coach for the One-Day Cup, reprising the role he previously held during Glamorgan’s successful 2021 title-winning campaign.
“It’s an absolute privilege to be leading Glamorgan in the One-Day Cup this season. We have an exciting crop of younger players coming through, and together with some more experienced heads we are looking to build on performances from the other formats this season and in the ODC over the last few years. We can’t wait to get going in Neath next week,” said Gorvin.
