
*DDLF 2026 Dates Announced: 27th, 28th and 29th November*
*Dehradun* : The Dehradun Literature Festival hosted a captivating musical theatre performance titled ‘Neeli Chhatri’ at the Doon International School Riverside Campus today, offering audiences a heartfelt adaptation inspired by celebrated author Ruskin Bond’s iconic novel The Blue Umbrella.
The performance transported the audience into a tender world of innocence, longing, and life’s simple joys, where a humble umbrella became the centrepiece of an unforgettable story. Through music, expression, and storytelling, the production beautifully captured the emotional depth and charm of Bond’s timeless narrative.
The play was performed by children from Aasraa Trust in collaboration with Adhvan Natyashala, showcasing young talent and the transformative power of theatre as a medium of expression and learning.
The evening also marked an important moment for literature enthusiasts, as the official dates for the 2026 edition of the Dehradun Literature Festival were announced—27th, 28th, and 29th November 2026. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Voices of Tomorrow: Life, Literature and Legacy’.
The event was organised in association with the Ruskin Bond Foundation, further strengthening the festival’s commitment to celebrating literary excellence and creative expression.
Speaking on the occasion, Samraant Virmani, Founder of the Dehradun Literature Festival, said, “‘Neeli Chhatri’ is a tribute to the timeless storytelling of Ruskin Bond, whose works continue to inspire generations. Bringing this story alive through children adds a layer of authenticity and emotion that resonates deeply with audiences. Present on the occasion were HS Mann, Samraant Virmani, Siddharth Bond, along with dignitaries from Aasraa Trust, as well as students and teachers.
