[Watch] Mohammad Amir’s animated send-off irks Faheem Ashraf in PSL 2026, all-rounder storms in pointing bat

Tempers flared during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 clash between the Rawalpindiz and Islamabad United at the National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday, April 23. Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf were involved in an ugly war of words after the former gave an animated send-off to his former Pakistan teammate.

The incident took place in the 17th over of the first innings. Amir bowled a slower bouncer, which Ashraf tried to ramp over third man. However, the batter could only glove it to the wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, who took a regulation catch. Things seemed pretty customary as Ashraf started walking back towards the pavilion.

Amir might have said something at the time, and this triggered a response from Ashraf. The former was seen gesturing towards Ashraf to continue his walk back to the hut. The latter pointed his bat towards Amir and said a few heated words before Abbas Afridi and Saad Masood stepped forward to pacify the situation.

Coming to the match, the Rawalpindiz bowled Islamabad United out for 137 in 20 overs after Rizwan won the toss and opted to field first. Amir, Masood, and Dian Forrester bagged two wickets apiece for the Rawalpindiz. Meanwhile, Devon Conway top-scored for Islamabad with a 33-ball 40.

In reply, the Rawalpindiz lost the wicket of Abdullah Fazal off the first ball. However, Rizwan and Kamran Ghulam joined forces to add a solid 78-run stand off 56 balls to take the team towards their first win of the season. Both Rizwan and Ghulam were dismissed in their 40s, while Sam Billings was run-out after scoring two.

Daryl Mitchell and Dian Forrester combined to forge a 41-run stand off 22 balls to take the team home with six wickets and 11 balls to spare. This turned out to be the first in for the Rawalpindiz in their maiden appearance in the PSL. However, it came after eight consecutive losses.
