ENG vs IND 2026, 4th T20I: England vs India Reactions and Quotes

England sealed the five-match T20I series by winning match four against India by nine wickets at the County Ground in Bristol on Thursday, July 9. The Three Lions have won the first three matches of the series, inflicting more misery on the defending T20 champions.

India have now lost two consecutive series in the shortest format of the game, after losing 2-0 to Ireland before their time in England.

Talking Points:

1. Indian batters once again struggled on a tricky wicket

As has been the case all summer long, Indian batters have struggled on pitches that offer something to the bowlers. Despite taking a more tentative approach, the top-order batters faltered while trying to score big in the first seven overs, showing they fail to adapt to conditions.

2. Jofra Archer is having the series of his life

Jofra Archer’s return to England’s side from the second T20I onwards has been a blessing. The right-arm fast bowler is providing his side with excellent starts in the powerplay. Following up on his three-wicket haul at Trent Bridge, Archer took two more wickets in Bristol, whilst conceding just 20 runs from four overs.

3. Harry Brook was batting on a different wicket

After Indian batters struggled in the first innings, England captain Harry Brook showed exactly how to score runs freely during the chase. The right-handed batter produced a batting masterclass, hitting an unbeaten 79 at a strike-rate of 225.71 to seal the win.

Who said what?

Shreyas Iyer, India captain:

Again it was a disappointing one. 158 wasn’t the perfect total on the board. Eventually we saw how quickly they chased it down. When we came onto bowl I just asked the bowlers to repeat the lengths as much as possible. Top of middle and leg was difficult to score off. We fell short on our execution. Definitely happy with my performance but if it’s not in a winning cause.. This is a transition phase and we will be making mistakes. Have to realise how important it is to adapt. I’m sure there are quick-learners in the team and they will assess themselves.”

Harry Brook, England captain & Player of the Match:

That was good fun tonight. Always good to beat India. To beat them 3-0 with one game to go… very happy. Two things stand out for sure – the way we’ve adapted to the surface and the communication from the coaches to the players and vice-versa. These two things have stood out. Jofra and Tongue again, like a house on fire. Will be pretty cool to be world No.1 – definitely an aim for us. Felt good (with the bat). Again, it’s some conversations with the coaches, try to figure out where to hit the ball in the ground.”
