Yorkshire re-sign all-rounder Will Sutherland ahead of upcoming season | CricTracker

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has re-signed the services of Australian all-rounder Will Sutherland ahead of the upcoming county season. Sutherland has confirmed his availability for the County Championship rounds as well as the T20 Blast stint with the popular club. It will be interesting to see how Sutherland fares in yet another stint with the club.

Sutherland has already shared memories of the past, and has also expressed his excitement to be signed by Yorkshire again ahead of the upcoming multi-format season. He also reflected on working alongside Anthony McGrath, the head coach, and how spending time with the latter has improved his game significantly.

“I had a brilliant time with the club last year and I’m really excited to be coming back to Headingley. Working with Mags [Anthony McGrath] and the rest of the coaching staff helped me push my game forward, and I built a strong bond with the rest of the lads along the way,” Sutherland said in a statement as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“I followed the team’s progress closely from afar and the way we finished last season was hugely impressive. The momentum and belief that created was clear to see and I can’t wait to get back in and get started with the boys again.”

Meanwhile, Gavin Hamilton, the general manager at the club, has also voiced his excitement to have Sutherland back into the set-up. Reflecting on the 26-year-old’s popularity, Hamilton has said that having Sutherland into the mix also brings core leadership experience to the dressing room. For the unversed, Sutherland captains Victoria while also being the skipper of the Melbourne Renegades in Big Bash League.

“Will made a real impression on everyone last year, both in the way he went about his game but also his off-field qualities too. He adds further leadership to our group ahead of this season, with the added advantage of already understanding our environment – how we operate and the values we stand for,” Hamilton said.

“He was a hugely popular member of the squad, and I know his return will be warmly welcomed by our members and supporters alike,” Hamilton concluded.
