Ucost is transforming Education in Uttarakhand
STEM Jigyasha Kaksh Reaches 40,000 Students with Future-Ready Skills
Prof. Durgesh pant, Director General Ucost told that in the remote hill regions of Uttarakhand, where geography has long shaped the limits of education, a transformative initiative is redefining access to future-ready learning. The STEM Jigyasha Kaksh Initiative is bringing cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, and 3D printing directly into classrooms, impacting over 40,000 students across the state.
Launched under the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the initiative has been conceptualized to bridge the gap between traditional education and emerging technological skills. Spearheaded with the support of state leadership and scientific institutions, the program reflects a strong commitment to democratizing STEM education, regardless of location. In its first phase, STEM Jigyasha Kaksh has established innovation-focused learning spaces in 95 schools across 13 districts of Uttarakhand. These dedicated STEM labs are equipped with modern tools and supported by trained educators and expert trainers who guide students throughout the academic year. The program emphasizes experiential learning, allowing students to engage directly with technologies that are shaping global industries. For many participants, this marks their first interaction with advanced tools and concepts that were once limited to urban institutions.
The initiative has been conceptualized by chief minister, pushkar singh Dhami, sh. Nitesh Jha, Secretary, science and technology, under the guidance of Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant, with continued institutional support to advance innovation-driven education across Uttarakhand. By integrating STEM disciplines with real-world applications, the initiative aims to nurture critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students. It aligns education with the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy, empowering youth with competencies essential for the 21st century.
“The vision has always been simple, to ensure that students, no matter how remote their schools are, have access to meaningful STEM education,” said Sagar Sojitra, Founder & CEO of STEMbotix. “When given the right exposure and support, students everywhere demonstrate the same curiosity and potential.” What distinguishes STEM Jigyasha Kaksh is not just its scale, but its purpose. By addressing educational inequity at its roots, the initiative reinforces the idea that geography should not determine opportunity.
With a proven, replicable framework now in place, the program is well-positioned for expansion across Uttarakhand and potentially across other states in India. As India advances toward becoming a global leader in technology and innovation, initiatives like STEM Jigyasha Kaksh play a critical role in preparing the next generation ensuring that talent from every corner of the country can contribute to and benefit from this growth.
