South Africa announce packed 2026-27 home season featuring Australia, Bangladesh and England

South Africa are set for a packed 2026-27 home season, hosting Australia, Bangladesh, and England in a series of multi-format contests. The fixtures, announced on February 23, outline an action-filled calendar featuring Tests, ODIs, and T20Is across some of the country’s most iconic venues.

The season begins with a three-match ODI series against Australia national cricket team from September 24 to 30. The opening match will be held at Kingsmead Cricket Ground, setting the tone for a highly anticipated white-ball contest between two cricketing powerhouses.

Following the ODI leg, the Proteas will continue their ICC World Test Championship title defence in a three-match Test series against Australia. The first Test begins on October 9 in Durban. The second Test will be played in Gqeberha from October 18 to 22, while the third and final Test is scheduled at Newlands Cricket Ground from October 27 to 31.

Bangladesh will then tour South Africa for another multi-format assignment. The two-match Test series begins at Wanderers Stadium from November 15 to 19. The second Test will take place at SuperSport Park from November 23 to 27.

The white-ball leg against Bangladesh begins four days later with a three-match ODI series scheduled between December 1 and 7, to be played in East London, Gqeberha, and Cape Town. This will be followed by three T20Is in Kimberley, Benoni, and Centurion from December 10 to 13.

South Africa will then host England for a marquee three-match Test series starting December 17 at the Wanderers Stadium. The second Test will be the traditional Boxing Day fixture at SuperSport Park, followed by the New Year’s Test at Newlands Cricket Ground.

The home season concludes with a three-match ODI series against England beginning January 10. However, due to scheduling constraints, the planned T20I series against England has been postponed to a later date.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming three strong cricketing nations in Australia, Bangladesh and England. Next season carries significant importance for both our Test and ODI teams. We have made a promising start to the new World Test Championship cycle, including a hard-fought 1-1 series draw against Pakistan and an impressive 2-0 victory over India, and it is important that we continue to build on that momentum and strengthen our position on the WTC table,” said CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“On the white-ball front, our focus remains firmly on building towards hosting the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027. Every ODI series from here forms part of our preparation for that global event, not only as proud hosts, but as a team determined to compete strongly on home soil,” he added.
