Star Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the ODI series against Bangladesh after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The left-handed opening batter picked up the injury during Pakistan‘s last Super 8 game at the 2026 T20 World Cup on Saturday, February 28. 

Fakhar, promoted up the order in a do-or-die game, scored a quick-fire 84 off just 42 balls. Unfortunately for the experienced batter, he picked up an injury which will now result in him missing the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh as per GeoSport.

The 35-year-old will be undergoing a rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore to get back to full fitness.

Fakhar will be a huge loss for Pakistan who will be looking to get back into some winning momentum following a lacklustre T20 World Cup campaign. The opener has earned 92 ODI caps for the Men in Green, scoring 3,861 runs at an average of 45.42 and a healthy strike-rate of 93.14. Having scored 11 centuries in the format, he registered his highest score of 210 not out against Zimbabwe back in 2018.

Pakistan set to play three-match ODI series in Bangladesh

Pakistan’s first test following the T20 World Cup is an away ODI series against Bangladesh, commencing from Wednesday, March 11, at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. 
 
This will be their second visit to Bangladesh in as many years, having previously toured the country back in July 2025 for a three-match T20I series. The hosts secured a 2-1 series win on that occasion.
