The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, on Wednesday, February 11, took several key decisions at its meeting held at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan), including approvals related to the upcoming Assembly session and a major relief measure for farmers ahead of Holi.
The decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting signal the government’s focus on legislative preparedness ahead of the Budget session and continued financial support to the farming community. Here are the significant decisions taken at the Chhattisgarh Cabinet Meeting held today at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan) under the chairmanship of the CM:
Governor’s Address Approved
The Cabinet has approved the address to be delivered by the Hon’ble Governor for the Eighth Session of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh, scheduled to be held in February-March 2026. The Governor’s Address traditionally outlines the government’s policy priorities and legislative agenda for the forthcoming session.
Nod to Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2026
The Cabinet also cleared the draft of the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2026. The Bill will be presented in the Legislative Assembly in connection with the Budget Estimates for the financial year 2026–27. The approval paves the way for the presentation and passage of budgetary proposals during the upcoming session.
Rs 10,000 Crore for Farmers Before Holi
In a significant decision, the Cabinet has resolved that the farmers selling paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the state will be paid the difference amount at the rate of Rs 3,100 per quintal. This payment will be made in a single instalment before the festival of Holi.
During the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26, the state procured a total of 141.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 25,24,339 farmers. Under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, the state government will disburse approximately Rs 10,000 crore towards the differential price of paddy to farmers this year.
Highest Procurement Rate in the Country
Under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, the Chhattisgarh government will disburse around Rs 10,000 crore to farmers in a single instalment to compensate for the difference in paddy price before the festival of Holi. It should be noted that under the Yojana, the state government is purchasing up to 21 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers at the rate of Rs 3,100 per quintal, which is the highest in the country.
Over the past two years, more than Rs 25,000 crore has already been disbursed to farmers towards the differential price of paddy under the scheme. With the additional Rs 10,000 crore to be paid this year, the total amount released under the scheme will reach Rs 35,000 crore.
