Due to corona, China’s business relations with other countries are deteriorating. China is not able to supply semi-finished products to neighbouring countries as before. India has benefited from this. For the first time in the history of 65 years of SAIL’s largest unit Bhilai Steel Plant, the new market has been found in Thailand. Thailand has ordered 20 thousand tonnes of steel linking with Bhilai Steel Plant.

BSP had no business relationship with Thailand yet. This is happening for the first time that the BSP’s billets will be smelted in the secondary steel factory there.

Thailand needs high-quality billets. According to Public Relations General Manager of Bhilai Steel Plant, Subir Daripa, orders for 20 thousand tons have been received in the first phase. More orders are expected in the future. Significantly, until now these goods was going from China in Thailand.

Apart from this, China itself ordered an order to supply 60 thousand tons of billet (solid iron beams) to Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP). Not only this, between April and May, but the BSP also supplied 50,000 tons of billet made during lockdown to China.

According to BSP officials, due to the Corona crisis, many of the major steel factories in China could not be started. Because of this, the needs of secondary steel producing factories had fulfilled Bhilai steel plant.
