Gujarat Titans’ (GT) assistant coach Parthiv Patel hopes that he will never have to hear or answer questions regarding what Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s actual age is. The Titans are set to face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Friday, May 29, in the crucial Qualifier 2.
Patel called Sooryavanshi a phenomenal talent and said that he is great to watch when he is batting. However, as a member of the GT contingent, the former India wicketkeeper hoped that the 15-year-old would have a quiet encounter on Friday.
“The way he has been batting, it feels very good to see it. We should not be talking about his age. I think that’s something we need to put an end to. He’s been a phenomenal talent, just the way he has been playing, and it’s great to see him. From the opposition’s point of view, we just hope that he doesn’t get one tomorrow,” said Parthiv during the pre-match press conference.

Patel clearly mentioned that he won’t reveal what plans GT have made to get the better of Sooryavanshi, who smashed a belligerent century last year against Shubman Gill’s men to announce himself on the IPL scene. However, Patel did assert that they have strategies in place to dismiss Sooryavanshi.
“Sir, I am not a broadcaster and I am not sitting in the pre-show of Star Sports. So, I won’t be able to tell you what plans we have made. But, I am very happy with the way he is batting,” Patel said.
“Hopefully, we will try and get him out soon. Like everyone else, we also have our plans in place. We have seen the videos, like everyone else. Hopefully, we will be able to execute our plans. But, I won’t be able to tell what our plans are. You will get to know it on the ground,” he added.
Interestingly, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins said that his team has Plan A, B, and C ready for Sooryavanshi ahead of the Eliminator. However, none of them worked as the southpaw slammed 97 off just 29 balls, with the Royals eventually winning the match by 47 runs.
