IPL 2026: Ranking teams based on batting strength

Batting also takes centre stage in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and this season is no exception. Each of the 10 teams possess a batting lineup that is capable of chasing any given score if the conditions are right.

Over the years, the average batting score keeps on increasing along with the number of fours and sixes hit in the tournament, making the bowlers’ job even more difficult than it already is in T20 cricket.

The race of the Orange Cap remains incredibly close this year with a host of players vying for the coveted prize.

Here are the 10 IPL teams ranked based on the batting squads they possess:

10. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) finished runners up in the IPL last time around thanks to their talismanic captain Shreyas Iyer who scored 604 runs at an average of over 50. PBKS, however, would be coming into the new season with a lot of hopes on their skipper in the batting department.

Though they performed well last year, the likes of Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, Priyansh Arya and Nehal Wadhera are lacking experience in the tournament, something which cannot be said about the other teams. They do, however, have exciting overseas batters in the form of Mitchell Owen, Marcus Stoinis and Marco Jansen who would be expected to have big seasons should PBKS want to replicate their successes from last time around.
