Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has received a death threat on social media, his party’s chief spokesperson Rajesh Bhatt said on Friday. Bhatt has filed a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Patna, seeking immediate action in the matter.
According to the complaint, the death threat was issued by an individual operating an Instagram account under the name ‘Tiger Meraj Idisi’. He posted the threat on the Instagram account of a YouTuber-journalist.
Claiming that the threat was made due to Paswan’s growing popularity, Rajesh Bhatt requested the Cyber Crime Police Station officer-in-charge to take cognisance of the matter and initiate prompt action. He said the act “clearly reflects criminal intent and involvement in unlawful activities.”
“I request you to take immediate cognizance of the seriousness of this matter and initiate prompt action. Kindly arrest the suspect without delay and ensure that the strictest possible punishment is delivered,” the complaint noted.
Subsequently, Cyber DCP took cognisance of the matter and said that the threat was issued at around 9:00 PM on Friday. He said that a case has been registered in the Patna Cyber Police Station, and legal action is underway.

Notably, the incident comes ahead of Bihar assembly polls, scheduled to be held in October-November. Paswan had recently announced his candidacy for the Bihar elections.
