The Tiranga Yatra and roashow were held simultaneously in the city as it was PM Modi’s first visit to Odisha after ‘Operation Sindoor‘. Thousands of people had lined up on both sides of the road from the Biju Patnaik International Airport to the Janata Maidan, where the rally was held.
PM Modi did not step out of his car during the roadshow, but waved to the crowd from inside as his convoy covered the 9 kilometre stretch,
PM Modi, who is currently in Odisha for the first anniversary function of the BJP’s maiden government in the state, launched 105 development projects valued at over Rs 18,600 crores today. He also unveiled the ‘Odisha Vision Document,’ which is a roadmap for the state’s development goals, centred on Odisha’s formation as a linguistic state in 2036 and India’s 100 years of independence in 2047.
The vision aims to transform Odisha into a Dollar 500 billion economy by 2036 and a Dollar 1.5 trillion economy by 2047.
Apart from this, PM Modi also flagged off new trains during his visit to the state, including the first passenger train to Boudh district. He also inaugurated the Sonepur-Purunakatak railway line and launched the third and fourth rail lines between Sarla-Sason and the fourth rail line between Jharsuguda-Jamga.
The Prime Minister also flagged off 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) system. These buses have been launched to promote eco-friendly urban mobility in the state.
PM Modi then launched an initiative called ‘Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana’, which is aimed at transforming birthplaces of Odia icons into memorials, museums, statues, libraries, and interpretation centres, in order to promote the cultural tourism and preserve heritage.
In a similar incident, the Prime Minister’s convoy halted on the main road in Varanasi to make way for an ambulance. The incident took place when PM Modi’s roadshow in December 2023.
