IPL 2024 Playoffs Scenarios: Team-wise qualification possibilities after PBKS vs RCB, Match 58 – CricTracker

Indian Premier League 2024 is nearing the business end and teams are leaving no stone unturned to cement a playoff spot. A total of 58 matches have seen some mouth-watering results and fans cannot keep calm as things have started to heat up. For the most part of the tournament, batters were dominating but the bowlers are making amends for the credit lost in the later half. With 12 matches on the card and the top four spots up for grabs, it does get interesting with every match. Here’s how the fate of teams stands after 58 games.

1. Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders have been riding high on their balanced team combination. KKR have played 11 games and have won eight of them. They have 16 points to their name and are perched atop the points table. Their playoff berth is all but sealed.

2. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals were leading the chart until a bad omen struck them. They lost back-to-back games but still sit comfortably in the second spot. They have eight wins in 11 games with 16 points. They are now in a tussle with KKR for the top two spots. 

3. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad were reaping the rewards from their batting arsenal. Their bowlers have joined the party and are delivering well. They have played 12 games so far and have seven victories to their name. With 14 points, they have occupied the third spot. Two victories in the remaining two games will seal the deal for SRH.

4. Chennai Super Kings 

Chennai Super Kings seem to have found their mojo with two away wins. They have played 11 matches so far with six victories to their name. Their next game is crucial as they can occupy the third spot with a win and a superior net run rate than SRH. Further collapse in CSK’s way would hamper their playoff dreams.

5. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capital might seem in a balanced position with six victories in 12 games, but they are not. In the fifth spot, they have a poor net run rate. A loss in the remaining game will send them packing. Having said that, owing to their NRR, victories in the remaining games will not guarantee a spot either if CSK and SRH remain formidable. 

6. Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants’ loss to SRH has dented their playoff hopes. Though they have mustered six wins in twelve games, their NRR is dismal. Their contention solely depends on a collapse in the top rack of the table and victories in the remaining games.

7. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are those students who study hard right before the exam day. They were outcasted at first and they have won four consecutive games. They have won five out of 12 games and have a positive NRR. Victories in remaining matches do put them into contention but they have to hope the likes of DC, LSG, and CSK crumble big time.

8. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians are the first team to get eliminated from the IPL 2024. They have won four games out of 12 they have played so far and are in eighth position. All they need is to avoid the 10^th spot and bow out respectfully. Interestingly they have the privilege to tinker with the fortune of teams such as LSG with a win.

9. Punjab Kings 

Punjab Kings’ loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 58 has pretty much written their farewell letter. Only one could have kept their hopes alive and RCB did so. PBKS have four wins in 12 games and just waiting for an official departure and are placed ninth on the points table.

10. Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans might keep their hopes alive with four wins in 11 games and 14 points, but their NRR does not assist their dream. It is at its worst when compared to other contenders. Victories in the remaining three matches will see them amass 14 points, but they need a miracle to rake up their NRR. They are placed tenth in the points table.
