Fire Breaks Out In Old Delhi’s Sadar Bazar, 25 Engines Rushed To Spot

A fire broke out at a shop in Old Delhi’s Sadar Bazar area on Saturday, July 12. The firefighting operation is currently underway, with 25 fire tenders present on the spot.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Sanjay Tomar said that the call regarding a fire in Sadar Bazar was received at around 3:49 PM. He said one of the fire operators sustained serious injuries in the fire accident.

“The fire category was raised here because this is a market and there are many shops nearby. This is a three-story building. There was a fire on the first floor. One of our fire operators suffered serious injuries. He has been removed. There is no information yet about anyone else getting injured.” he told news agency ANI.

Fire Service Divisional Officer Rajendra Dadwal said the fire broke out on the  first floor inside a hall containing cosmetic material. 

Meanwhile, Chairman Federation of Sadar Bazaar Param Jeet Singh said the fire could be controlled in time since it broke out during the day. He also said that no one has been found trapped and that the exact cause of the blaze will be ascertained only after an investigation.

“Had it happened at night, Sadar Bazaar would have suffered major losses. One fire personnel is reported to have been slightly injured. No one has been found trapped inside so far, and no such report has surfaced. The administration will investigate further, and only then will the exact cause be known,” he said.
