UCOST celebrated 8th Regional Science Centre Foundation Day on 3, Feb, 2024 at Vigyan Dham, UCOST
On 3 February 2024, the eighth foundation day of Regional Science Centre, Dehradun was celebrated at Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology UCOST.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Er. S.S. Shrimali from ICAR – Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun, as the chief guest.
D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director of UCOST, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and attendees, setting the stage for an insightful and engaging gathering.
Prof Durgesh Pant Director-General UCOST extended a warm welcome to everyone, He informed everyone about various science popularization programs run by the Council .
He also congratulated the RSC team on its 8th Foundation Day and announced the Inauguration and Launching of a Virtual Reality [VR] kiosk at RSC, a significant addition to the center’s interactive offerings.
Distinguished guests on the dais included Er. S.S. Shrimali from ICAR, DP Uniyal Sir, Joint Director, UCOST, G.S. Rautela , Advisor Science and G.S. Rawat, Emeritus Scientist.
The highlight of the day was the release of publications by the chief guest, including brochures of the Innovation Hub and the annual report of RSC.
Dr. G.S. Rawat, Emeritus Scientist UCOST, delivered a lecture on “Thrill of Biological Explorations in the Himalaya,” and apprised everyone about the importance of nature research.
Er. S.S. Shrimali delivered a wonderful presentation on the “Technological Options in Watershed Management, Drainage Line Treatment and Water Harvesting’ delving into the unique ecology of the Greater Himalaya, emphasizing the study environment, nature, and botany.
On this occasion, Virtual Reality Kiosk Application, a new initiative of the Science Centre, was also inaugurated by Prof Durgesh Pant Director-General UCOST and our chief guest Er. S.S. Shrimali, through which the visitors will be given information about Virtual Reality technology.
The proceedings concluded with a Science Demonstration Lecture [SDL] by Mr. Ankit Kandiyal on ‘Matter at Low Temperature,’ engaging students and the audience with intriguing experiments.
Prof Durgesh Pant Director-General UCOST in his address, highlighted how RSC has become an integral part of the community, providing a platform for scientific engagement and intellectual growth. He expressed gratitude to all those who have been a part of this incredible journey, contributing to the success and impact of RSC in the region.
