SPIC MACAY holds Santoor performance by Maestro Pandit Satish Vyas 

Dehradun, 8th February 2024: Under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, the renowned Santoor player Pandit Satish Vyas performed for the students of Graphic Era University. Accompanied by the Tabla artist Amit Kavthekar, Pandit Satish Vyas captivated the audience with his mesmerizing performance. Earlier during the circuit, he also performed at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar.

During the performance, Pandit Satish Vyas presented a rendition of melodies in Raag Shudh Sarang, leaving the audience spellbound. This was followed by a lecture demonstration that allowed students to interact with the artist, gaining insights into the nuances of Indian classical music.

During his performance, Satish Vyas shared that Santoor is also known as ‘Shata Tantri Veena’ in Sanskrit and has a rich history influenced by Persian culture, evolving into the beautiful instrument it is today. Crafted from walnut wood and adorned with a hundred strings, the Santoor emanates a deep, magical sound, captivating listeners with its timeless charm.

Sharing his insights on the performance, one of the students remarked, “Pandit Satish Vyas’s performance was a lovely experience, taking us to a world of divine melody. His love and passion for music were truly inspiring.”

Padma Shree Awardee Pandit Satish Vyas is the son of the esteemed Indian classical singer C. R. Vyas. He has performed at various prestigious venues worldwide and has multiple recordings to his credit, including collaborations with renowned labels such as Navras Records, Music Today, Times Music, BMG Crescendo, and Sony Music.
