Chandrayaan 3 Landing Reactions Live: Hello and welcome to Chandrayaan 3 Landing Reactions Live Blog. Please follow this space for all the latest developments on the reactions pertaining to the successful touchdown of the Chandrayaan 3 lander on the Moon’s south pole.
Chandrayaan-3 landed softly on the Moon’s south pole, making India the first country to achieve a soft landing on the lunar south pole. Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the Moon at 6:04 pm IST on Wednesday.
After the Vikram lander successfully landed on the Moon’s south pole, the sensors signalled the computer onboard the spacecraft. The Pragyan rover will be unfurled three-and-a-half hours after the lunar dust has settled down.
Terming the achievement “historic”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it sounded the bugle for a “developed India”. Modi, who is in South Africa to attend the BRICS Summit, virtually witnessed the historic landing of Chandrayaan 3.
“We are witness to the new flight of new India. New history has been written. This is a moment to cherish forever. India is now on the moon,” PM Modi said in opening remarks.
He said the Moon mission was not just India’s alone and the success belongs to all of humanity.
“This is a year in which the world is witnessing India’s G20 presidency. Our approach of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ is resonating across the globe,” the PM said.
“Kabhi kaha jata tha chanda mama bahut door ke hain, ab ek din wo bhi ayega jab bacche kaha karenge chanda mama bass ek tour ke hain (Once upon a time it was said that Chanda Mama (Moon) is far away. Now, one day too will come when children will say that the Moon is just a tour away),” he added.
As the Chandrayaan-3 lander touched down successfully on the Moon’s south pole, leaders across the political spectrum hailed the feat, lauding the scientific research of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) that went into the country’s third lunar mission.
With this achievement, India became the fourth country to master the technology of soft-landing on the lunar surface after the US, China and the erstwhile Soviet Union.
