Mussoorie Vacation Turns Tragic As 62-Year-Old Delhi Man Dies In Traffic Snarl During Medical E

A vacation to Mussoorie turned tragic for a Delhi family after a medical emergency escalated into a fatal delay due to a traffic jam in the scenic hill city. Kamal Kishore Tandon, 62, had arrived in Mussoorie on June 5 with his family and was staying at a rented apartment on Motilal Nehru Road. However, he suddenly fell ill during heavy rainfall and poor weather conditions.

His nephew, Arjun Kapoor, said that they immediately sought medical help and dialed the 108 emergency number for an ambulance only to be informed that it would take nearly an hour for the vehicle to arrive from Dehradun, which was nearly 30 km away from their location. Given the urgency of the situation, the family opted to drive him to the Landour Community Hospital themselves, India Today reported.

Traffic Chaos Hinders Rescue Attempt

Their efforts went in vain due to the town’s congested and narrow roads, which were choked with tourist vehicles and tempo travellers. Despite attempts by local residents and police to clear the road, the family remained stuck for over 45 minutes in a jam that refused to budge.

By the time they finally reached the hospital, Kamal Kishore Tandon had lost his life on the way. The family blamed the traffic management in Mussoorie as the reason behind the tragic loss.

“We came here for a vacation, but we’re now returning with a body. The administration and tourism department must learn from this incident to ensure no other family has to suffer the way we did,” Arjun Kapoor said.

The incident was confirmed by Mussoorie Circle Officer Manoj Aswal. He emphasised that police had reached the scene swiftly and even attempted to resuscitate the patient by administering CPR. He also advised tourists to contact the 112 emergency helpline for faster assistance in such situations, the report said.
