New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra was left bleeding excessively from his forehead during Match 1 of the Tri-Nation Series against Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Fielding at deep square-leg, Ravindra lost the ball in the floodlights as it approached him. The ball hit him flush on the face, with Ravindra unmoved for a minute.
The incident plunged the venue into complete silence as the crowd as well as the New Zealand side looked shocked at what had transpired off a slog-sweep by Khushdil Shah.

An icepack was placed on his forehead to curb the flow of blood, as he made his way out of the playing field. The over resumed after a few minutes, with Michael Bracewell conceding five runs in the three deliveries to follow. Pakistan were 204/5 at the end of that over, the 37th of the hosts’ innings. Earlier in the day, Ravindra was dismissed for a 19-ball 25.
