The event witnessed participation from tribal groups of Uttarakhand as well as from seven other states, who showcased their traditional dance forms, crafts, and cuisine.
Reflecting on the significance of the Mahotsav, Ganesh Joshi stated, “The development of the tribal community is essential for the overall progress of the nation. I appreciate the efforts of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for introducing various schemes that empower and uplift the tribal communities. Organizing such programs is crucial to preserving and promoting their rich cultural heritage. Under the leadership of our young and dynamic Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand has undertaken several historic initiatives. One of the most remarkable achievements under his leadership has been the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), making Uttarakhand the first state in the country to do so.”
He added, “This Janjateeya Mahotsav has been growing and evolving each year, becoming bigger and better with every edition. The increasing participation and enthusiasm reflect the deep-rooted pride in our tribal culture and the success of such initiatives in bringing communities together.”
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, Rohit Chauhan and Jitendra Tomkyal enthralled the audience with their melodious renditions of folk classics such as ‘Meri Basanti’, ‘Reshami Rumal’, ‘Dhana’, and ‘Chalia’ drawing loud cheers and applause from the crowd.
Throughout the day, cultural festivities continued in full swing, with performances of traditional tribal dances, craft exhibitions, and food stalls offering indigenous delicacies. Artists and performers from across the participating states brought a unique blend of cultural heritage to the festival, making it a truly enriching experience.
Expressing his delight, Coordinator of TRI Uttarakhand, Rajeev Kumar Solanki, remarked, “This Mahotsav is part of our Chief Minister’s vision. He has encouraged us to take the necessary steps to promote tribal culture, where he announced an annual tribal festival inviting all tribal communities to participate. Under his guidance, our department has not only worked on cultural preservation but also expanded efforts into other fields. The CM has emphasized the need for initiatives in sports and science leading to the annual Tribal Sports and Science Festival to showcase young talent. He has also focused on education, establishing an E-Studio at the TRI campus to aid students in remote areas via satellite learning. Additionally, under his leadership, an employment initiative has been launched this year, with a commitment to providing ₹1 crore in tribal employment opportunities every year.”
