Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has congratulated the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on providing the interim budget that takes care of every section of society including country’s poor, farmers, labourers, women and employees. Responding to the interim budget of the Union Government, Chief Minister said that this interim budget is a glimpse of the future of ‘New India’. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, provision of providing Rs 6000 to the farmers having land upto 2 hectares or less has been made in the interim budget. This will benefit more than 10 crore farmers of the country. About 92 per cent of farmers in Uttarakhand will benefit from this. Chief Minister said that this step would be helpful in the Prime Minister’s target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022. Chief Minister said that exemption of Income Tax upto income of Rs 5 lakh will be of great benefit to the people of the low and middle income groups. Those earning more than Rs. 5 lakh will get a exemption of Rs 13,000 in tax. Union Government has not just reduced inflation and fiscal deficit but made rapid progress towards the development of basic infrastructure. He said that during the UPA regime, the country’s inflation rate was 10.1 per cent, which has now come down to 4.6 per cent. Work is being done fast in the direction of giving home to everyone by year 2022. So far, 1.53 crore people have got house, which is five times more than the UPA Government.

Chief Minister said that the Union Government has realised the thought of welfare of the labour class and people in the unorganized sector. On the sudden death of labourers, the compensation amount for their dependents has been increased from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh. For the people in the unorganized sector, the welfare scheme of providing pension of Rs 3,000 under the PM Shramyogi Mandhan Yojana has been started. In the direction of making half of country’s population empowered, women are becoming financially empowered with the Mudra Yojana. The good thing is that 70 per cent of the beneficiaries of the Mudra Yojana are women. Ujjwala scheme is proving to be a game-changer towards improving the quality of life of rural women. So far, six crore free gas connections have been distributed. About four lakh women in small states like Uttarakhand have got smoke free lives because of this scheme.

Finance Minister Mr. Prakash Pant said that the interim budget, Union Government has specially focused on agriculture and allied services, employee structure and rural development. In the last five years, the Union Government has done the work to connect every person to the main stream. This budget will benefit everyone. From Uttarakhand’s point of view, it will help in proper implementation of National Rural Drinking Water Mission, Urban Renaissance Campaign, provisions under Industrial Packages in Himalayan States, Namami Ganges Project, National River Conservation project etc. Agriculture, infrastructure and rural development have been included in this budget in view of employment generation, which will benefit Uttarakhand.
