Dehradun: SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) organized Rajasthani folk performances by the renowned Bundu Khan Langa & group at DAV Public School and AIIMS Rishikesh today.
The Langa community, to which Bundu Khan belongs, is celebrated for its deeply rooted musical traditions. Hailing from a small village in Rajasthan, Bundu Khan’s passion for music and the rare Sindhi Sarangi has taken him around the globe since his debut performance at the age of thirteen. His dedication and talent have made him a respected figure in folk music. His performances are a homage to the rich culture and traditions of Rajasthan, continuing the legacy of his ancestors.
The group captivated the audience with traditional instruments such as the harmonium, kartar, sindhi sarangi, and dholak. The program included vibrant performances including Ganpati Vandana, Padharo Maro Des, Kesariya Balam, Nimbuda Nimbuda, and even featured an energetic Kalbelia dance performance. A special song celebrating the colorful Rajasthani turban also enchanted the audience.
One of the audience members shared, “It was a truly enriching experience to witness such authentic folk traditions. The music and dance transported us to the heart of Rajasthan, and the energy was infectious.”
