RBI Launches WhatsApp Channel, RBI WhatsApp QR Code: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched its official WhatsApp channel aimed at spreading public awareness. The move is part of the Reserve Bank’s public outreach activities. The country’s central bank has been conducting a series of campaigns dedicated to public awareness across various mediums, including text messages, TV and digital advertisements. These initiatives are part of the RBI’s ‘RBI Kehta Hai’ (RBI says) drive.

Here are five things to know about the RBI’s just-launched WhatsApp channel:

• What is the RBI WhatsApp Channel for? Through its verified WhatsApp account, the RBI aims to make financial information more accessible to the public.
• The initiative enables the RBI to ensure last-mile information delivery regardless of the user’s geographical location.
• In the RBI’s words, the initiative will “ensure that vital information reaches people in a simple, direct, and effective manner”.

• At the same time, this will strengthen “trust and resilience in our digital financial ecosystem”, according to the RBI.

The RBI WhatsApp account is available on the business line ‘9999 041 935’, according to a press release dated April 4.

Over the years, the Reserve Bank of India has taken a host of steps to strengthen its digital presence by reaching out to the public on various digital platforms.

It has also revamped a new website, which is available for a preview on the direct link (website.rbi.org.in/en/web/rbi).
