Madhya Pradesh Polls: ECI Orders Repolling In Ater Constituency On Tuesday

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed repolling at a specific polling booth in the Ater assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, as per an official release on Sunday, news agency ANI reported. Repolling is scheduled for Tuesday at booth number three, polling centre number 71, situated in Kishupura village. The decision followed a complaint filed by Madhya Pradesh Cooperative and Public Service Management Minister Arvind Singh Bhadauria, who requested repolling at more than half a dozen polling stations.

The repolling is set for November 21 (Tuesday) from 7 am to 6 pm, with the mock poll commencing at 5.30 am. The polling team will head to the station on November 20. During repolling, indelible ink will be applied to the middle finger of the left hand of the voter, according to the release.

The ECI has mandated proper training for the presiding officer of the polling party and polling officers, with instructions for the Bhind Collector and District Election Officer. Additionally, the Collector, District Election Officer, and Returning Officer of the Ater Assembly constituency are required to inform all candidates and political parties about the repolling through the sounding of Dondi (Munadi) in the polling station area, ANI reported.

Notably, stones were pelted outside the polling station in Manhad village of Mehgaon assembly constituency of Bhind. BJP candidate Rakesh Shukla sustained minor injuries during the incident.

In Ater, BJP leader Arvind Singh Bhadauria, the incumbent MLA, is contesting against former MLA Hemant Katare of the Congress party. The voting for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly took place on November 17, registering a 71.16 per cent voter turnout. The counting of votes is scheduled for December 3.
