UP: Man Blackmails Women Through Fake Social Media Accounts, Arrested
Meanwhile, in another case of cybercrime, police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a man for allegedly blackmailing women and young girls by befriending them through fake social media accounts. Izzatnagar SHO Dhananjay Pandey confirmed the arrest of Dilshad, also known as Dilshad Jamali, from Mahalu’s culvert, news agency PTI reported. The police recovered four Aadhar cards with different names and a mobile phone used to create multiple Instagram IDs.
Dilshad has been sent to jail after being produced before the court. His arrest follows the detention of his brother Naushad (23) and Aman (23) around ten days ago for similar offences. Both men had been using fake Aadhar cards to create false identities on social media platforms, luring women and then blackmailing them with recorded material, police said.
“The accused threatened to make the recorded material public if the victims did not meet their demands,” SHO Pandey added, as per PTI. Naushad and Aman were also sent to jail after their arrest.
