It was 3rd February, a bright Sunday morning, after a weeklong of hailstorm, cold wave and rain, Doonited’s Foodies Circle of India (FCI) celebrated its 2nd annual picnic at Shahastradhara ropeway. Foodies Circle of India’s “Spread The Happiness” theme was a grand success. Large number of people from Doon participated in the event along with some all the way from Haridwar too joined us and enjoyed the event.

“Hum Sath Sath Hai – THE FCI GROUP 🙂

“Everyone knows how to enjoy, yet the stress of day to day life, is taking its toll. So last year we decided to come up with this concept of celebrating picnic for our Facebook members of FCI. It was a unique concept where for the first time the members of a blog had come together and celebrated the day with furore. This response enlightened us and we decided to hold this kind of meet every year,” says the enthusiast couple, Dr Pradeep Banerjee and Dr Vineeta Banerjee. “Let us all discover the joy of living.”

Kai Po Che: The Kite Flying….Wooo Kaaatttt

On the hills of Shastradhara, the adventure of the day began with the ropeway. Enthusiast members were given tricolour band and a stamp of FCI too, which was done by our enthusiast member Ritesh Gupta. The excellent landscape on the hills and the scenic beauty was mesmerising and breathtaking. All the members of FCI had a feast of a time clicking pictures and moving around getting the 360 degree view of the hills.

As the day progressed, the members were involved with numerous games conducted by another enthusiast member, Varsha Matta. The atmosphere was thrilled by smile, laughter and cheering for each other. The moment DJ played the songs, members immediately took to the dance floor where right from young to old enjoyed every beat of the music leaving behind all the stress of business, job, studies, household work.

One of our members was all delighted as she found her husband enjoying the day out completely. “He never goes out with us as he is always busy working. I convinced him to come for the FCI picnic and he is simply overwhelmed and felt thankful for being here.

The FCI had also made arrangements of kite flying (only with normal threads), which the male members loved it. Another FCI member was so happy flying the kite as he recalled his young days. “It has been almost 30 years, I haven’t touched the kite and today it seems like just yesterday. All thanks to FCI, I can go back to my childhood days.”

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara…..Rock Climbing 🙂

Refreshments, food and beverages were served from time to time. While the games were on, many of the members also enjoyed the billiards too. Parents could take a break as kids were engaged with all the rides like cup & saucer, mini train and many more. Rock climbing, shooting were also the attraction of the day.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: Kudiyuon Ka Hai Zamana 🙂

The entire members, who participated, were the active members of Facebook. Many of the members were not even known to each other. The surprise element of this event was people getting connected to each other in person. In fact, many of the members got united after decades. Some educationists met members who were once their student or parents of the children whom they had once thought. Even few bumped into their former colleagues.

Photographs were clicked, phone numbers were exchanged, food were shared, sound of balloons were all around, music in the air and a member rightly said, “Lived our day to its fullest. What else do we need?” Another youth said, “At least I’m away for a day from all those lectures and teachings, a day to breathe indeed. All thanks to FCI.”

Zara Hole Hole Chalo More Sajna….:D

The FCI did a great job of holding everyone together and in giving an equal opportunity of participation and winning prizes, gifts & chocolates. Our committee members Amar Dabral, Varsha Matta, Ritesh Gupta, Krishna Gopal Sharma, Shelly Aurora, Jyoti Parmar, Parvindar Kaur  & Vijay Gambhir.

Chance Pe Dance Marle…O Soniyo 😀

Our heartfelt thanks to all the enrolled members, without whom; the event would not have been a success.  Continue giving us the support, encouragement and strength to hold more and more events in the near future too. “Once a Foodie, always a Foodie” Keep rocking, keep smiling. And Be United, Be Positive.
