Meanwhile, the Indian Army has responded proportionately to unprovoked small-arms and artillery fire initiated by the Pakistani Army across the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of May 7 and 8, according to officials, ANI reported.

India’s Counter-Operations

The firing was reported in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir. “During the night of May 7-8, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked fire using small arms and artillery guns across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor areas in J&K. The Indian Army responded proportionately,” the Indian Army’s statement read.

These ceasefire violations follow the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, prompting India’s counter-operations.

The Indian Army continues to monitor the situation closely after its precision strikes targeting nine terror infrastructure sites linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), groups involved in planning attacks on Indian soil.

The strikes aimed to avenge the Pahalgam attack, terminating Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders and camps, which were part of plotting attacks on Indian soil.

As per defence sources, Pakistan’s artillery shelling has resulted in the death of 15 civilians and injured 43 in regions like Poonch and Tangdhar since last night, as civilian areas continue to be hit.
