IPL 2025: RCB vs CSK, Match 52 – Full highlights, top moments & winner details

Royal Challengers Bengaluru got the better of Chennai Super Kings by two runs in Match 52 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 3. This was RCB’s fourth consecutive win. With this, the hosts climbed to the top of the table.

RCB were put in to bat first. Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell powered them to 71 inside the powerplay. Bethell notched up his maiden IPL half-century before falling for 55 off 33 deliveries. Kohli followed soon after registering a fluent 33-ball 62. The middle overs slowed RCB’s momentum quite drastically. Devdutt Padikkal (17 off 15), Jitesh Sharma (seven off eight), and Rajat Patidar (11 off 15) fell cheaply. However, a 33-run over from Khaleel Ahmed and a 21-run final over powered RCB to a 213-run total. Romario Shepherd smashed an unbeaten 53 off 14 balls. With that, he equalled the joint-second-fastest fifty in the history of the IPL.

Ayush Mhatre looked sensational right from the get-go. He hammered 26 off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s second over and becoming the third-youngest to score a half-century in the IPL. Lungi Ngidi, returning to the IPL after 1,463 days, struck in his first over. At the halfway mark, CSK were cruising at 106/2. Requiring 43 off the last 24 balls, CSK looked in control with Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja in charge. Mhatre fell six short of a maiden IPL century (94 off 48), and Ngidi struck again on the next ball to remove Dewald Brevis for a golden duck. With 15 needed off the final over, Yash Dayal held his nerve for the second year running against the same opposition at the same venue

Key Moments from RCB vs CSK, Match 52 of IPL 2025

1. Brevis dazzles with moments of brilliance on the field

The dismissals of Bethell and Jitesh involved Brevis being involved. The top-order batter was caught brilliantly by the South African, who charged from the deep backward square leg fence to take it inches from the ground. Jitesh’s dismissal was a smart relay catch involving Brevis in the deep midwicket area.

3. Mhatre powers his way to majestic knock

It was a truly spectacular effort by the teenage sensation during his time in the middle. Mhatre’s knock impressed fans and experts alike. He looked truly splendid and struck the ball with immense ease from the outset.
