In a high-scoring encounter at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) posted a total of 236 runs against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field first, but the decision did not pay off, as PBKS batters dominated from the start.
Prabhsimran Singh was the top-scorer of the innings, who completely dismantled the LSG bowling attack with a score of 91 runs off 48 balls which included seven sixes. After the early dismissal of his opening partner Priyansh Arya, the Australian Josh Inglis fired away by scoring 30 off just 14 deliveries.
PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer then joined the youngster at the crease and played an innings of 45 runs off 25 balls by maintaining the scoring run rate at a higher level. Nehal Wadhera (16 off 9), Shashank Singh (33 off 15), and Marcus Stoinis (15 off 5) contributed their parts and helped PBKS to reach a commanding total of 236 in their 20 overs.
The LSG bowler Mayank Yadav conceded 60 runs in his four overs, and Avesh Khan went for 57 runs. Though Akash Singh and Digvesh Singh managed to pick up two wickets each, they were also expensive and gave away over 40 runs.
LSG has to chase 237 runs in a crucial encounter to keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile PBKS are currently fourth in the points table with six wins, and will look to capitalize on home advantage to seal a win to strengthen their playoff chances.
