The Central government on Saturday has suspended the exchange of all categories of mail and parcels from Pakistan via air and surface routes. The decision has been taken in the wake of a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam district that killed 26 civilians on April 22.

Earlier, the centre imposed an immediate ban on the direct and indirect import of all goods from Pakistan. It also banned the Pakistani-flagged ships from entering the Indian ports and prohibited Indian-flagged vessels from visiting ports in Pakistan.
The decision will completely halt all the inbound shipments of goods from Pakistan to India. According to news agency PTI, India’s exports to Pakistan in April-January 2024-25 stood at $447.65 million, while imports were a meagre $0.42 million.
