With a view to strengthen the Authorities in order to bring an end to the practical problems coming in the direction of housing construction and for the balanced and planned development, in view of the adverse geographical conditions of the state, some important decisions in the public interest have been taken during the Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Monday.

While amending the Uttarakhand Building Construction and Development Regulation 2011, the determination of the Foothills areas to control the uninterrupted and uncontrolled construction of the natural beauty of the area between the plain and hill areas of Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Nainital, Almora and Champawat districts will be done by the board of the respective Authority. According to the width of the road in the areas of the foothills, the height of the building and provision of maximum height of building of 21 metre, a provision of reducing the width of fixed access route by 25 per cent has been made in the plain areas.

In today’s cabinet, a decision has been taken to make necessary amendments in the state for promotion of tourism, health care, housing etc. Decisions have been taken regarding the establishment of educational institutions, labs and nursing homes in the field of health, establishment of hospitals, for the first time in accordance with their star ratings making arrangements in bye-laws and simplifying eco-tourism standards, for encouragement in the housing sector, allowing the the width of the road and height according to the area of land, facilitating the establishment of the Mall/Multiplexes and service apartments and the provision of an additional floor for the construction of buildings for the promotion of local architecture of Uttarakhand. While encouraging mixed land use and keeping the parking provisions, the above amendments will encourage the investors in hill areas and the common man will also get the facility. State Government is committed to promote the service sector in the hill areas and it has been decided to provide relaxation under this.

By encouraging mixed land use and keeping the parking provisions rational, 75 per cent of the funds received from this scheme will be utilized by the authorities for parking, green area, and street light.
