Dehradun: In a major expose shaking the educational landscape of Dehradun, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Krishna SJB Rana, President of the Cambrian Hall Educational Trust, under sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code for alleged forgery, fraud, and criminal conspiracy.
According to the complaint, Krishna Rana allegedly forged the signatures of Amrita Singh, a permanent lifetime member of the Trust, to illegitimately sell trust property located at Nepali Farm. These forged documents were allegedly submitted in the District Court of Dehradun and at the Registrar of Societies’ office to legitimise the illegal sale.
This marks the third FIR against Krishna Rana. The first, FIR No. 0145 dated 03/09/2018, was lodged at PS Raiwala, and the second, FIR No. 0062 dated 02/06/2019, includes similar charges of fraud and conspiracy under IPC sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B. Investigations by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) Uttarakhand have already found him complicit in forgery-related crimes, including the alleged fabrication of a power of attorney of his elder brother, Rishi SJB Rana, and tampering with sale deeds and voter ID cards.
Despite serious charges, Krishna Rana has consistently evaded justice, having been denied bail twice by the Hon’ble High Court, Nainital. After moving the Hon’ble Supreme Court, he is currently out on bail but has failed to appear before the District Court, Rishikesh, for two years — an evasion allegedly made possible through collusion with certain public prosecutors and administrative officials.
Adding to the controversy, Krishna Rana is accused of illegally removing his sister, Amrita Raj Laxmi Rana, from the Trust’s board and installing his wife, Sonam Yangchin, a Tibetan national, as Treasurer while securing his own position as President. Allegations have also been levelled against the entire Trust board, including members Shakti Gurung, Mr. Sabarwal, Dr. Arun Kumar, Mr. S.C. Biala, Mr. Samuel Jaideep, and Mr. Hira Lal, who are believed to be complicit in the conspiracy.
Amrita Singh, despite battling cancer, was allegedly forcibly evicted from the Cambrian Hall principal’s residence, while multiple complaints to the Education Department, Registrar of Societies, and Defence Estate authorities have reportedly gone unanswered.
Further concerns are being raised regarding Cambrian Hall School’s current operation on Defence A-3 land, whose lease expired in 2016. Renewal requires signatures of all three legal heirs of late Shashi SJB Rana — Rishi SJB Rana, Amrita Singh, and Krishna SJB Rana — but ongoing legal disputes have stalled the process.
This unfolding saga raises pressing questions about administrative negligence, regulatory lapses, and how an educational institution of Cambrian Hall’s stature continues to operate under such serious allegations.
