Dehradun Toastmasters Club conducted its online meeting over Zoom, on Sunday, 11th July, at 3:00 PM. This meeting was attended by 17 participants.
Toastmaster Harry Sethi started the meeting by sharing Club’s mission. He invited TM Maitreyi Sharma to conduct the meeting.
Maitreyi Sharma as TMOD spoke about being “Comfortable with Discomfort”. She walked through 5 tips to overcome the discomforting feeling naturally.
Swarleen kaur, founder of the venture “Talk Room” and the first speaker of the day, shared tips on effective communication.
Author of book “Good Vibes make Good Lives”, Swarleen has contributed as speaker on many forums like Bolega Bharat, Josh Talks, etc.
She discussed how body language and soft skills play a very important role in our communication. She emphasized that active listening is the foremost skill for effective communication.
Next Speaker, Naveen RamKrishna, who is an internationally recognized spiritual guru also spoke about communication skills.
He highlighted that while communicating with others, we should ask ourselves some simple questions such as – What, When, How and Why.This gives us insight on the bigger objective of communication thus helping us in expressing well.
Toastmaster Bharat Pant as speech evaluator, shared detailed and comprehensive feedback on both the speeches.
Toastmaster Harry Sethi as Table Topic Master, gave some interesting topics to participants.
Silky Arora won the Table Topic segment. She spoke about how turbulent the Lock down period has been for her. Her mother struggled in ICU on life support for 1 month. Her finally coming back home was an emotional experience which she described expressively.
Toastmaster Ipshit, Area Director U1, encouraged all the participants and speakers and congratulated them for revamping the club.
