Ahmed’s marriage with Menal Khan came to light after India asked Pakistani nationals to leave the country as part of diplomatic measures taken in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 26 persons were killed. The two got married over a video call on May 24 last year. A CRPF probe found the jawan had not intimated his wedding and her overstaying in India to the authorities concerned.
Earlier, he wife Minal had got relief from a court after the centre ordered the Pakistanis on short-term visa to leave the country. Khan had boarded the bus of deportees and reached the Attari-Wagah border, but her lawyer told her about the last-minute court relief. As she had reached the Attari-Wagah border to cross over, her lawyer called to inform that they had secured a court stay on her deportation to Pakistan.
“The Pahalgam attack happened, and she didn’t have a long-term visa, so she was sent to Attari border…a case was filed in the J&K High Court, and the hearing took place, the court passed an interim order…after that, she was sent back to Jammu. She reached Jammu yesterday around 3am..,” Sharma told ANI.
