
BSNL Posts 2nd Consecutive Quarterly Profit FY25: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Tuesday reported a rare, second straight quarter of profitability. Its net profit for the quarter ended March 31 came in at Rs 280 crore, marking a sequential increase of 6.9 per cent after posting a net profit of Rs 262 crore for the October-December period.
Briefing the media after the release of the public sector telecom firm’s results, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that BSNL registered two straight quarters of being profitable for the first time in 18 years.
The company’s revenue grew across its three segments, according to the minister.

According to Scindia, the telecom company’s operating margin doubled to 20 per cent for the year ended March 31, 2025, from 10 per cent the previous year.
The company’s operating profit for the year came in at Rs 5,395 crore, he said.

The Union Minister said that 18 of the company’s telecom circles were profitable on an operating basis in FY25, as against eight circles in FY24.
On a net profit level, 10 circles were positive as against only three in FY24, he said.
BSNL predicted sustained profitability in February
In February, the government said the telecom operator planned to accelerate its 4G and 5G rollouts to enhance service quality and network reach during the March quarter.
It also planned to expand its enterprise solutions to tap into new revenue streams, to monetise digital assets to unlock value from infrastructure, and to optimise its operational expenditures through strategic cost-saving measures.
The government exuded confidence that BSNL was on the path toward profitability in the ensuing years, reinforcing its position as a competitive and resilient telecom provider driving the country’s digital transformation, according to an official release dated February 18.
