Air India on Saturday announced an interim payment of Rs 25 lakh to families of deceased and lone survivor in addition to the Rs 1 crore announced by Tata Sons.
Air India posted on X, “Air India will provide an interim payment of Rs 25 lakh or approximately 21,000 GBP, each to the families of the deceased and to the survivor, to help address immediate financial needs. This is in addition to the Rs 1 crore or approximately 85,000 GBP support already announced by Tata Sons.”
This comes as Air India is liable to pay Rs 1.8 cr to each deceased under Montreal Convention. But families may be entitled to higher compensation if it is proven that Air India was negligent.
