A case has been registered against Nikhil Nanda, along with several officials of a tractor company, on charges of fraud and abetment to suicide by the Dataganj Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district on Monday. Nikhil Nanda, who is married to Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Nanda, is also the grandson of Raj Kapoor and a cousin to Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
According to a report by ETV Bharat, the case was registered after a court order, against Nikhil Nanda, the company’s CMD, along with the firm’s UP head, sales manager, area manager, Shahjahanpur dealer, and three other officials. They have been accused of allegedly forcing Jitendra Singh, a tractor agency owner, to end his life.
As per reports, the complaint was lodged by Gyanendra, a resident of Papad Hamzapur village, whose brother Jitendra Singh operated Jai Kisan Traders, a tractor agency in Dataganj. Initially, Jitendra ran the business alongside his co-partner, Lalla Babu. However, after Babu was jailed due to a family dispute, Jitendra was left managing the agency on his own.
Gyanendra accused Nanda, along with company officials—including area manager Ashish Baliyan, sales managers Sumit Raghav and Amit Pant, UP head Dinesh Pant, financier collection officer Pankaj Bhaskar, sales head Neeraj Mehra, and Shahjahanpur dealer Shishant Gupta— for constantly pressurising Jitendra to increase sales. They allegedly threatened to cancel his dealership license and seize his property if he failed to meet the targets.
Tractor Agency’s Owner Died By Suicide After Escalating Pressure
Feeling overwhelmed, Jitendra reportedly confided in family and friends about the stress. On November 21, 2024, some company officials allegedly paid their visit again, further escalating the pressure. The following day, on November 22, Jitendra died by suicide.
Further, the family of Jitendra claimed that the police failed to take any action despite filing a complaint earlier until the court intervened. After the directive by the court, finally case has been registered against all the accused.
Jitendra’s father, Shiv Singh, said he was unaware of any connection to Nikhil Nanda (who is married to Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter) but blamed the company for his son’s tragic death. “I don’t know who he is. We want justice,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dataganj police station in-charge Gaurav Vishnoi confirmed that an investigation of the incident is underway.
